We apologize for not making the Phoenix Finals. We have put a lot of time and expense into completely changing our motors to an Alan Johnson product and some of the issues on the fuel system could not be completed in time for Phoenix. This was very disappointing to our entire crew and especially Greg. During the change over process we found many incompatability problems with our motor setups and we expect these changes will allow us to be a very competitive and more consistent boat. This extra time will allow us to make sure we have everything tested and look forward to putting the boat on the track in Spring. Thanks to our fans for your patience. Lora Tedesco

With deep sorrow, we are forced to say goodbye to one incredible guy. Dave Crader, 14-year veteran of the Loose Cannon Team passed on this week. Dave was a huge part of all the Loose Cannon's 5-championships over the years. Dave was a "Kick-Ass Drag Racer" and his presence will be sorely missed.

Well 2004 didn't start off with the best of situations. During Test N Tune we had an unfortunate fuel fire that did not quite want to go out, so the IHBA Team Rescue was forced the put the Loose Cannon under water. As many of you know, the water in Phoenix is not kind to many things. We chased gremlins on Saturday, but did put the machine in the program. As for Sunday, the saying is so true, sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. We did catch a couple of breaks, and were able to take home the stone dude on Sunday. We appreciate all the competitors that came out and raced with us. We are looking forward to competing with them at the upcoming Nitro Nationals in Red Bluff.
Looking forward to seeing the new boat...........? Well, with the win in Phoenix, it has become a points thing, and we have to go with what is working. If we solidly put the old boat in the program, we may unleash the new boat in round 2.
We would like to extend our thanks to those who have helped the Loose Cannon team here in 2004. Reef Development of Hawaii, Les Schwab Tires, J&E Pistons, G.L. Brown Insurance and
Humerickhouse Enterprises. You guys are the best!

Both boats are ready to go for the Season Opener in Phoenix. Last Wednesday, the new boat got weighed and if everything is good and the balance is right, it will be ready to make a pass on Friday at Phoenix. It has been a hectic couple of weeks. We have had some huge talent helping out with the construction of the new boat. We are very excited to welcome Wolf McClendon to the crew for the 2004 season.
The new boat is the first boat that Bob Noyce, our crew chief has been able to be a part of from start to finish. For the most part, Bob has just done the tuning, and not had the opportunity to help with the setup. Needless to say, he is very excited about the opportunity to be part of the new boat's setup.
The boats are heading for the hauler, and they will be on the road to Phoenix on Thursday. Can't wait to go racing!!!!!
3/30/04
Well with much anticipation the brand new MB1 Loose Cannon is nearing completion. The boat is coming together beautifully. Jay Janacek from Dallas, TX is here doing the setup on the new boat. Jay was instrumental in the success of the Spirit of Texas boat a few years back. We are so thrilled at the workmanship in this boat. We haven't had a boat this nicely constructed since our days with Rob Steele built Finelines.
Our focus is to have both boats ready for Phoenix. We may possibly make a trip to Bakersfield the week before, but not quite sure at this time.
That's all for now, check back in about a week or so for more information...

Although our original intention was to make the NJBA season opener to do a little testing, we were unable to ready the new boat for that event. The new Myers MB1 hull is painted and all of the fabrication is done, just waiting for assembly. The crew has been working diligently to get it ready for the NJBA April race, then on to Phoenix. We are very excited about the new boat and hope that if we do make the NJBA event that we will be able to do a few "burn-outs" to see what the boat will do on the leave. Rest assurred, the "Loose Cannon" will be in Phoenix for the opener.
Bob Noice has named Bill Rice, Assistant Crew Chief. Bill has been a dedicated and valuable member of the team for quite a while now and he has been a key component to our chanpionship runs.
That's about all for now, check back in a week or so for more updated.

We are very sorry to bring the news that "Big" Dave Crader will be retiring from the Loose Cannon team . Dave has been such a big part of the Loose Cannon team for nearly 2 decades. Dave was there for the first championship and there for the fifth one. Over the past couple of years, Dave has had some medical issues and just decided at the end of 2003 to bow out and venture on to another phase in his life. Dave, we love you, and wish you all the luck in the world, and your help, tenacity, and dedication to the cause will truly be missed.
Despite the loss of a great crew member and friend, we are proud to announce the addition of one of the most esteemed members of the drag boat community will be a part of the Loose Cannon team for 2004. Wolf McLendon, the brain-trust behind the tremendous success of Kyle Walker, and the Watercraft boats legacy of performance will join the team in 2004. Although it is unclear as to how much time he can give, we know that he will be with us for the beginning of the season until mid-season where it will be up in the air. We are extremely excited about the new addition to our crew.
The new boat is coming along quite nicely. The paint is done, and let's just say, it is nothing short of incredible, and we are anxious to unveil it. All of the hardware is ready, but the boat is still not completely put together. This boat features all of the newest state-of-the-art technology. We know that this boat will be at the Season Opener in Phoenix, but it may make the trip to Bakersfield 2 weeks before then to do a couple of burnouts. Our intent is to move to the new Myers boat for the future, but we don't want to go to Phoenix with no test passes on either boat.
As for old faithful, we have completely refurbished the 2003 boat and made a tremondous amount of changes to the setup. We think that we have made the right changes to make this boat run the big numbers.
The transport with deliver both boats to all of the events in the event that our new Big boat doesn't perform as expected.
More details on Loose Cannon's 2004 updates.........check back soon!

We are
proud to announce a new addition to our crew. "Dago"
Campinelli will be on board for the remainder of the season
to aid in a run to the 2003 title.
After
a pretty rough start to the 2003 season, the Loose Cannon
is ready for the Nitro Nationals. During our first
round victory over the Madness machine with new driver Darrin
Christle, the Loose Cannon suffered some pretty severe fire
damage. One of the header pipes became dislodged and
took out one of the puke lines which caught fire and burned
much of the fuel and electrical system. Our great
team was able to do a full motor service and rewire the
boat to make it ready for round 2. Despite
going down in the semis, our team deserves a huge round
of applause for the effort put forth over the weekend.
After the boat was brought back to the shop, it was torn
down to the motor rails and replumbed and wired from top
to bottom. Needless to say - We are ready to take
down that fat Nitro Nationals check! See ya in Red
Bluff!

Tedesco
Racing would like to welcome back Nevada Cement as an Associate
Sponsor for the 2003 campaign.
The
Loose Cannon team will enter the 2003 season for the first
time with the same boat that we ended our 2002 championship
season. The boat has some minor changes to it, but
in large has remained the same as the 2002 boat. We
have endeavored into a cooperative effort with Bitz Boats
to develope a new design boat for later in the 2003 season,
but it will be different. The new boat with be outfitted
with a Faulkerson W-Drive. We are by no means unhappy
with the strides we have made with a current configuration,
but we do realize that in order to capture the performance
that we believe we are capable of, we are going to need
to change a few things. We are working close with
Rick and plan to have a test boat ready in mid 2003.

Tedesco
Racing would like to welcome our new sponsors for the 2003
season - MSD
Ignition and JE Pistons. We would also like to welcome
back for another year White Cap, Nevada Cement, and George
L Brown Insurance. Without you, the dream of being the 4-Time
Top Fuel Champion would not be possible.
The
Loose Cannon is in the process of being readied for the
season opener in Phoenix, AZ at the beginning of May - we
are very excited to run with some of the best teams in the
country.
10/31/02
The
pit is set up and the boat is ready. We have made many changes
to the boat over the past 2 months. We replaced the damaged
portions of the bottom, got her repainted and she is ready
for action. We are trying a few different things this weekend
in order to see if we can drop the ET into the 4.90's. The
goal of the World Finals is to win the World Finals. The
Loose Cannon team is not really interested in the MPH record
or an ET record, but we would love to come home with the
World Finals Champion trophy and to finish the 2002 season
with a win!
We will
update our progress soon on the happenings in Phoenix!

Wow
- Marble Falls was an exciting event. We feel that we have
accomplished great strides in the launch of the "Loose
Cannon" twin-screw, but believe we still have a long
way to go. In our semi-final round we had a single because
Frank Carter could not make the call. The boat launched
like it never has before and was on an incredible pass when
we lost power at about 1000 feet. That wasn't where the
trouble started. Greg took a wild ride in the shutdown area
and tore up the bottom of the boat pretty bad. When the
boat finally came to a stop, it took on water in a big hurry.
Thank goodness for the great IHBA Rescue team for getting
to the boat so quickly. We were able to get the boat out
of the water and back to the pits to survey the damage.
During the last seconds of that run we had large holes in
the bottom of the sponsons that would not make it feasible
to make the final round. The boat is being sent to Myers
Fiberglass in California to have the sponsons repaired/replaced
in order to have the boat ready for Phoenix. Just as a precautionary
measure, we will have ole faithful ready for action - our
single-prop boat is in the shop being prepared, just in
case.
Greg
would like to thank his awesome crew for putting the "Loose
Cannon" in every final of the 2002 season and to the
3rd quickest ET in drag boat racing history - 4.88 at 218
MPH - Great job everyone!
The
wild ride did give Greg a pretty good knock on the noodle,
so he was transported to the hospital to check for any injuries,
but other than a concussion, he is just fine. We would like
to say thank you so very much to those that helped the "Loose
Cannon" team out after the semi-final round incident
by selling our shirts, and offering their boat for the final
round -THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
And
last, but not least - Hey Paul, thanks for the show!

Well after 5 races and 3 wins, the "Loose Cannon"
team is pretty happy with our season. We believe we have
our launching problems handled. We tried a few things at
the Augusta race and they seem to really stablilize the
leave. Now we are having difficulty keeping the blower belt
on. It appears that with the tremendous load the twin-screws
put on the engine, it is making tremendous horsepower and
throwing the belt off. Although our final round run was
nothing to write home about, we were elated to take home
the trophy from the famed 17th Annual Augusta Southern Nationals.
Sometimes you don't have to be the fastest to take the win.
We squared off with Kebin Kinsley in the Speed Sport Special,
and Kebin had handling problems, but turned on the red light,
handing us the win, as we coasted through the lights. We
feel that we learned a great deal over the 7 or so passes
over the weekend, and can make a good step toward the ultimate
goal - FASSSSST & Straight!
Gadsden
proved to be a great stepping stone for the "Loose
Cannon" team. We took the #1 qualifying spot for the
3rd straight race with a 5.90 ET. The best treat of the
weekend was our 5.20 in round 1 of eliminations. Unfortunately
we were stung by that old nemesis John Haas in the white
boat again. Last year he had our number and Gadsden was
much the same. Although we did not come out on top, it was
a tremendous race. Roger Way got his machine to run a very
nice 5.27 and our 5.26 couldn't cover it. John had a slightly
better RT, but we were both in the 0's. Another reason is
that at about 1000 we lost another blower belt due to bearing
failure in the blower which killed the ET. The ironic thing
is that Haas had the chute come out at about 1200 feet and
slowed his ET down as well. This could have quite possibly
been the first side-by-side 4 second run. Congratulations
to Roger Way and John Haas for their win. Thanks to all
the competitors that came out to play to make the Southern
Thunder Boat Drags such a great event.
More
after Marble Falls!

The "Loose Cannon" team is extatic with our performance
at the Lakefest this past month. Although we still have
not had the privilege of making a full pass under power,
we are very happy with the way the boat is handling and
taking a set. We did figure out that we had a pulley problem
on the blower that was causing the belts to break and we
feel we have corrected the problem.
We are
excited to be heading for Red Bluff, CA for the Nitro Nationals
in a couple of weeks to try out a few new things and hopefully
come home with the win.

Well, it's official, the Loose Cannon team is officially
a twin-screw operation. This past weekend, we took the whole
team down to Bakersfield and did some testing with the all-new
twin-screw Loose Cannon. We were very happy with the results.
We had done some major changes to the current fuel system
to accomodate the tremendous load that 2 props would provide.
Unfortunately, we still didn't have quite enough fuel to
keep the engine running past about 200 feet. The boat left
incredibly hard and straight as an arrow. As the boat leaped
out of the hole, I could feel the props load the engine,
and by the time I knew it - it went "bang". The
engine was loaded up with 96% and was on kill, and fortunately,
it only sheared the studs off the blower, and blew a burst
panel, with virtually no internal damage to speak of in
the engine.
The
fuel system is under the watchful eye of Pete Jackson on
the flow table and will be optimized for the season opener
in Phoenix is just over a month. We are very happy with
the results of the new Ron Braaksma Racing propellers we
just received, as there was no distortion after the launch.
The team is excited to take the boat to Phoenix, where we
hope we can qualify the new boat and make a few laps.

A great package arrived to the Tedesco Racing shop this
past week. Two brand new propellers for the new "Loose
Cannon" twin-screw. The props were sent from Ron Braaksma
Racing and are absolute works of art. Ron had obtained all
of the process records and tooling that the late Tom Black
had in his shop where he produced the best props made in
modern racing under the "Precision Propeller"
name. We are hoping to give the new wheels a test at the
upcoming NJBA event in Bakersfield in March. The outlook
is possible, but it will be a scramble to get the new boat
ready for testing that early in the season - but we are
hopeful.
Jay
Janecek, of "Fuel Monkey" fame, just recently
came out to Reno to do some work on the new ride. Jay built
and installed a custom fuel tank, and built the engine mounts.

The 2002 engine program is set an ready to go for 2002.
The team just picked up 5 new KB's from Don Prudhomme Racing,
and they are being prepared for the long haul in 2002. The
"Loose Cannon" team will have 2 "Hat-to-Pan"
soldiers ready for action at every race. Our plan is to
have 3 - 5 complete engines less the mag and blower.
The
team is preparing to take home it's 3rd consecutive Top
Fuel title, but in order to compete with such great racers
like Ron Braaksma, Rich Walker, and Jay Haroutunian, we
felt we really needed to be ready to go the long haul.
Check
back for more news in the coming weeks!
12/19/01
The big question for the "Loose Cannon" team for
the past 6 months is......"What is the deal with your
new twin-screw boat. The answer is, the boat has just been
delivered from the machine shop. The boat is now rigged
with the capsule, steering, 2 v-drives, Casale Drive box,
struts, wing tree and wings, rudder, and basically most
of the hardware. Bob Perriera did an outstanding job getting
the hardware all done to prepare the new "Loose Cannon"
for the 2002 season.
When
will you see her you ask? There is a slight possibility
that we will debut her at a possible upcoming test session
at Lake Ming in Febrary, but that is not definate. If she
is ready, and the test session comes off, we don't plan
on making any full passes. The plan is to fire up, pop the
throttle and see how she is going to react. The real show
will be in Phoenix in April.
To put
any rumors to rest about the "Loose Cannon" being
a two-boat team, the rumors are false. The plan for 2002
is to run the complete circuit with two boats in the trailer.
The twin-screw will run during qualifying, if she doesn't
perform well, we will step back to the single-screw - a
proven winner. Greg Tedesco will be the only driver for
"Loose Cannon Top Fuel Hydro".
